8th July 2018 By

Date and times of this event.
Date(s) - 08/07/2018
Time(s) - 10:30 - 15:30

Try your hand at age-old craftsmanship. Learn the skills of the Blacksmith under the guidance of our own Chris Askew and make a fire poker to take home.

About Chris

Chris was drawn to blacksmithing firstly as a hobby and then as a business and now leads the workshops in our historic forge – Chris said:

“The forge would have been one of the time buildings to be created at the mine. They would have made all the tools and metalwork for the mine in here. You can feel the history.”

Workshop Feedback:

“We both like making things and have always enjoyed hands-on crafts like woodwork, so a blacksmithing course was right up our street. We not only learned the art of blacksmithing but Chris brought the workshop to life with the role of the blacksmith through the ages. If you like finding out about history while learning a new skill – it’s a must!”

Cost: £60 including lunch and refreshments

We advise that old clothing and sturdy footwear is worn for this activity.
